Mandolin Music for Weddings

Greek mandolin music

Over the years, Mandolin Magic has performed at hundreds of weddings. There is no musical, social, emotional or technical situation we can’t handle. From performing at obsure locations on the beach, leading a processional of guests through a city street, or hiking to a remote mountain location, to rushing tables, chairs, and sound equipment to a new location during a last-minute thunderstorm, we can — and have had to — handle it all.

We are completely self-contained, travel with all our own equipment, dress appropriately, and are happy to do whatever needs to be done to make the day go smoothly and as perfectly as you envision.

The Mandolin is a beautiful choice for weddings because of its historical and romantic sound. It crosses the boundaries of age, ethnicities, styles and tastes like no other instrument can. Who doesn’t love the mandolin? It is also very portable, making for an easy transition from the ceremony to the cocktail hour to dinner and dancing. Mandolin Magic is fun, classy, and a special treat for everyone!

Typically, there are four musical parts to a wedding. Here are some ideas for your special day:

1. THE CEREMONY

Prelude music: Romantic and welcoming music as guests gather around, makes everyone at ease. We suggest gavottes, and music by Bach, Vivaldi or Mozart. Slow and enchanting Irish, Scottish, or Italian music works are also favorites.

Processional music: Pachabel’s “Canon In D”, Bach’s “Jesu, Joy of Man’s Desire” and “Air On a G String”, the traditional Sicillian wedding march, the Jewish tradition “Baruch Haba” and “Siman Tov”, or an English Wedding song are all classic processional pieces.

Recessional music: You’ll want it to be upbeat and joyous here! Mendelsshon’s “Wedding March”, Chris Murphy’s “The Open Road”, the Italian favorite, "Tarentella", and traditional Irish or Scottish music all fit perfectly for the recessional.

2. COCKTAIL HOUR

Celebration and conversation is the mood here. It’s time to say hello to friends and family, both old and new. Mandolin Magic performs your favorite Jazz, Swing, Ragtime, Bossa Nova, Italian, and Gypsy mandolin tunes. Pieces like “Never On A Sunday”, “Lady Be Good”, “Paper Moon”, “O Sole Mio”, “I Left My Heart In San Francisco”, “Blue Moon Of Kentucky”, and “St. Louis Blues” are kept in the background so we don’t compete with the mingling, and accompany the mood perfectly.

3. DINNER

Dinner starts out with light and romantic background music. Mandolin Magic plays music that helps relax your guests and allows everyone to enjoy a wonderful meal with friends and family, including Latin, Italian, Brazilian, Jazz and Swing, and Italian favorites.

4. DANCING

Now it’s time to really celebrate! The Mandolin has a rich and glorious selection of dance tunes that are perfect for your reception. Music Like “Tarentella” (a historical Italian dance), Bluegrass, Irish, Jazz and Swing from the 20’s and 30’s, and the Hora will get you and your guests on the dance floor — we can even play Funk, Rock & Disco on the mandolin!

“The wedding was wonderful – it could not have turned out more perfectly. Our musicians were fabulous and the highlight of the day. The music was romantic, sensual, and the perfect choice for our outside affair. Since we were planning our wedding from across the country, it was necessary to put a lot of faith in the choices we made for wedding professionals, and I knew from the minute I spoke with you on the phone that this was our choice! Thank you for being the best!”

“Our musicians MADE our wedding! Everyone commented on the music — mandolin music for the ceremony, a great jazz set for cocktails and dinner, and a rocket-fueled dance set. People loved the musicians, and they were great to deal with.”

“We love our wedding musicians! Their playing really made our wedding special. The music was incredible and kept the guests dancing all night long. The band and their management were wonderful to work with, and we will be sure to recommend them to all our friends!”
